Facilitator Information: Hilary Diouf has been supporting families, young people and professionals for over 20 years. She had the privilege of learning from young people in care in a variety of settings such as group homes, special schools and detention centres. She was trained in Positive Discipline in 2013. As the founder of The Common Good Collaborative based in Ontario, Hilary enjoys collaborating with trainers locally and internationally to support the growth of Mutually Respectful Relationships in homes, schools and communities. She is currently undertaking a Masters in Social Work. Hilary adventures through life with her husband, and two teenaged children. They are a multicultural, multiracial, trilingual family who have lived in four different countries. "These experiences have opened my mind and broadened my perspectives."

Deborah Owen-Sohocki is an international trainer, author, and coach. Deborah has also been an educator for 50 years. She has taught PK—HS, Title One, Special-Ed, High Risk Children, Montessori, and college adult learners and has used PD for 34 years. She is a Certified PD Lead Trainer and has taught Positive Discipline in North America, Great Britain, Europe, Malta, China, and South America. She is a co-author of Positive Discipline: A Teacher's A—Z Guide. Deborah is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in Adlerian Psychology in working with families and children. She is a mother of two, step-mother of four, and grandmother of six.
 

Workshop Description:

This is an online interactive and streamed video workshop designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator and will learn to:

  • Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches.
  • Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures.
  • Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect.
  • Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change.
  • Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving.
  • Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Workshop Registrations: A full refund (minus a $35 processing fee) will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop.

In the event of cancellation, participants will be notified by email.
