Facilitator Information: 
Tammy Keces EdD is the Head of School at Irvine Hebrew Day School, a K-8 WASC accredited Positive Discipline Lab school. 

Tammy holds a B.A. in Psychology from UCLA, an M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University in Curriculum and Instruction, and a doctorate in education from California State University, Fullerton. Tammy has multiple-subject teaching credential and has taught K-6 various private and public schools. Tammy also holds an Administrative Services Credential from Cal State University Fullerton and has been an educational consultant for public, charter, Montessori and private schools, providing professional development training and mentoring for administrators, school counselors, teachers and staff, in the facilitation of the Common Core State Standards, and a comprehensive social-emotional learning curriculum for K-12 grades. As a certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer candidate Tammy also is deeply committed to supporting the efforts to support other educators in their social emotional learning growth and implementation process. 

Tammy's language arts curriculum is featured in "Positive Discipline in the School and Classroom" (4th edition) by Jane Nelsen and the "Problem Solving Wheel of Choice Program" also by Nelsen. Tammy was honored to write the forward to Positive Discipline Tools for Teachers. She is on the Advisory Board of the Orange County Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and has presented Positive Discipline workshops at the California Charter School Association, Orange County Private School Association, New Mom School, Mom's of Multiples Group, Stowell Learning Center, Jewish Community Center and more. 

Tammy enjoys spending her free time with her family in her organic vegetable garden, cooking, playing board games or hanging out the beach with her husband Matthew and her three children Maya, Natasha and Colby (all proudly raised in a Positive Discipline home). 

Workshop Description:  This two-day interactive workshop is designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator and will learn to: 

  1. Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches. 
  2. Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures. 
  3. Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect. 
  4. Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change. 
  5. Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving. 
  6. Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community.

The Positive Discipline Association is pleased to provide the opportunity for educators to earn graduate-level university credit. Whether you attend one of our live workshops or participate in an online workshop, you may choose to earn 1 to 4 non-degree credits. Positive Discipline Association courses approved for Graduate-Level Semester Credits through University of the Pacific will appear on an Official Transcript with a letter grade.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Workshop Registrations: A full refund (minus a $35 processing fee) will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop. 

In the event of cancellation, participants will be notified by email.
