Questions on Power Struggles
-
7 year old and high level of frustration.
- I am having more problems with
my son, specifically regarding his
behavior towards
his sister.
- My 10 year old daughter is
'forgetful'. In other words,
she forgets to do the
dishes. She forgets....
- Please help me deal with the
screaming. Ignoring it doesn't help. I will be
honest I am ready to scream and yell right back.
- What is particularly troublesome is when we go to a store.
When a sales person (stranger) approaches us he arches his back and lets out a
scowl and turns bright red. If he is holding something he will throw it at them. Aggressive
Toddler
- I don't want to get into a power struggle with
him but it costs money to run the washing machine and dryer, and it "wastes" an
entire weekend day where we could be doing something fun. How do I avoid
chore and
laundry hassles.
- Help! I'm am a single father to an extremely bright 13 year old daughter. I have
read several of your books, most recently started "Parents who love too
much"
but haven't gotten very far (the title, by the way, describes me!).
- About a week ago all of a sudden she started to
get really upset about going to bed and wouldn't go upstairs with one of us
without kicking and
screaming and getting herself so worked up that she would even be
sick.
- She bites, screams, kicks, punches,
smashes things. She ripped the curtains from her windows tonight...I was in
total shock.

My son is excited in the meetings and helps us come up with solutions but then during the week when I remind him of what we all agreed, he will refuse to do it.

intelligent Kindergartner (an only child) who chooses
not to follow directions in class and at home.
